Location: Rock Eagle 4-H Center, Eatonton – Nestled in the pines of the Oconee National Forest and near the 19,000 acres and 300 miles of shoreline of beautiful Lake Oconee is The Rock Eagle 4-H Center.
Named for the Rock Eagle Mound and shaped like a prone bird, the mound is a stone effigy measuring eight feet high at the breast and consisting entirely of milky quartz rocks. It was probably built about 2,000 years ago by Native Americans for religious or ceremonial purposes.
